♥`*•.¸`*•.¸♥ MUM MY BEST FRIEND ♥¸.•*¸.•*´♥

What CAN you say about your Mum? She was THE BEST Mum in the world, and she is loved and missed very
much. She had a Wicked sense of humour, and brought us all up on mad Dover sayings. Like, if we
asked, 'What's for dinner mum?' The reply was 'Pump Handles Stewed' or even 'Pigs' Ears in Custard.'
But for all the kidding, she was a smashing cook. And if we asked 'Where you going Mum?' she said
'There and back to see how far it is'.

Mum died just a week after her 77th birthday, and the day before mine. She was diagnosed with cancer
in 1994, and went through surgery in 1995, but she never really recovered from it. I moved in with
her, and stayed for about a year looking after her, but the cancer returned and she was admitted to
Law Hospital, where she died, just 2 days after Christmas 1996. During her illness, she put up a
brave front, but knew she was leaving us. She hated the hospital, it was her first time in one since
1946 when she had my brother in Motherwell Maternity!

We all love and miss her very much, she was one Amazing Lady, My Duchess.

Mum & dad met and married in Dover, where Mum was born, and dad was stationed at Dover Castle with
The Black Watch at the beginning of WW2. My brother John was born in the same house as mum in
Douglas Road, Dover,

They moved to Wishaw after the war, and set up home in a wee prefab in Wishaw. My brother Joc was
born in M'Well Mat, my sister Ellen and myself were born in the back room of the prefab. Mum broke
her heart when the prefabs were demolished and she had to move to another house, she had tended that
wee house for 24 years, loved it and didn't want to leave it. 2 years after moving, our dad died.
He had taken several strokes, and was bed bound. Mum nursed him day and night until he was taken
into Law Hospital where he died in July 1972.

Mum volunteered to work in the local Oxfam shop, where she made many friends, and was a well liked
and sociable person. She was also a regular at Mecca Bingo, where she joined up with her friends for
a right good blether, and a few more rows of her knitting. Mum was a prolific knitter, she churned
out garment after garment, hardly glancing at the pattern.

Despite her own problems, Mum was always there for us, she was a loving, caring and dedicated mum,
and we all loved her. She taught me, by example, how to be a good mam to my sons, and she loved all
of her grandchildren equally. Mum went to visit my brother in Hereford every June, and my sister
in London every August, they all looked forward to the holidays with her. She was very good to my
sons, Chris & Ziggy, who are also in Heaven with her. 13 months after mum passed away, my youngest
son Ziggy died. Then in April 08, my son Chris was taken from us too, he was murdered. My Mum would
have strung the rats up by their ears for that, she would not let the wind blow on any of her
Weans.

There is nothing and no-one who can ever make up for either one of them, and I hope they are all
together now. (See also GTS sites for Chris Rooney & Ziggy McAllister). They are all loved and
missed so very much, not one day has gone by without a thought of love for them. Not one day ever
will.

R.I.P. Mum, Dad, Ziggy, Chris, Nathan. XXX

♥ I'd Rather See You Smiling ♥
( Alan Pemberton)

You must not think that I have gone
Please don't grieve or pine
I'd rather see you smiling
Laughing - working - looking fine
Death is an exciting key
Which opens many doors
It leads us into other worlds
Quite similar to yours
Life is not an accident
Death is not the end
God designed a mystery
Life and death do blend
So do not think that I have gone
Please don't brood or pine
I'd rather see you smiling
Laughing - working - looking fine

♥ I Promise ♥
(Author Unknown)

I promise I won't cry forever
But I need to just today.
I promise I will remember
How to live and how to play.

I promise that I'll dry my tears
When the heartache goes away.
I promise that it won't take years
But I need another day.

I promise that I'll live my life
As you would want me to.
I promise when I'm facing strife
I'll face it straight and true.

I promise I will endeavour
To do the best I can each day.
I promise I won't cry forever
But I need to just today.

The years will fall like autumn leaves upon her memory.
The touch of Time will ease the heartache, gently, tenderly...
It cannot always be like this; the agony will cease.
And I, resigned, shall find at last - my healing and my peace.
There comes a time when grief must end and sorrow pass away.
Never will she be forgotten - but there'll come a day -
when I shall remember her without a stab of pain -
happy in the secret knowledge that we'll meet again.

♥═══♥ Life is a Journey ♥═══♥

Birth is a beginning
and death a destination
And life is a journey:
From childhood to maturity
and youth to age;
From innocence to awareness
and ignorance to knowing;
From foolishness to desecration
and then perhaps to wisdom.
From weakness to strength or
from strength to weakness
and often back again;
From health to sickness
and we pray to health again.
From offence to forgiveness
from loneliness to love
from joy to gratitude
from pain to compassion
from grief to understanding
from fear to faith.
From defeat to defeat to defeat
until looking backwards or ahead
We see that victory lies not
at some high point along the way
but in having made the journey
step by step
a sacred pilgrimage.
Birth is a beginning
and death a destination
And life is a journey;
A sacred journey to life everlasting.

Rest your weary head and drift off into dreams,
Frolic in the sunshine and bathe in God's moonbeams.
Use the stars as stepping-stones to take you to your peace,
The pain of life forgotten now you have found release.
Without rain a flower folds, the petals drop and die,
There was no way to save you, you couldn't even cry.
So we cry all the tears instead as we must let you go
To Heaven, and God's garden to blossom and to grow.
The little seed is planted, you'll be watered every day,
The angels will tend all your needs as in their arms you lay.
Your life will be amazing now and full of wondrous things,
Rest in peace, our dear, sweet Ellen, go fly on angels wings.

I stood by your bed last night;
I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep.
I spoke to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
'It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here.'
I was close to you at breakfast,
I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached to me.
I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I flew with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently landed on you; I smiled and said, 'it's me.'
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, 'I never went away.'
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say 'good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning.'
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll fly across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you,
there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...
then come home to be with me.

ღ♥ღ♥ღ♥ღ Memories Of You ღ♥ღ♥ღ♥ღ
Alan Pemberton

I had a drifting mood today
It stirred a thought or two
My mind went back to happy days
To memories of you.
Our lives are like a tapestry
With two distinctive sides
The front a perfect picture
The back our secret hides.
Our memories are built like this
Some are clear and real
Others travel in and out
With no specific feel.
Life's phases too are tapestries
With textures of their own
Some we love and some we hate
From all of them we've grown.
We gather wisdom from our pains
From torment we grow strong
Our spirit nurtured by mistakes
Still fated, travels on.
Perhaps one thing which stays the same
And will forever more
Is the love we hold for another soul
The people we adore.
So I had a drifting mood today
It stirred a thought or two
My mind went back to happy days
To memories of you.

ღ♥ღ♥ღ♥ღ In Peace Go Home ღ♥ღ♥ღ♥ღ
Alan Pemberton

Through veils of peace may you ascend
To promised planes above
Where comfort shall await you
In those summerlands of love.

Although my grief is deep and raw
Although my pain is great
I know that you are still with me
I know that you will wait.

For in God's time we'll meet again
Of this I am quite sure
I loved you so much on this earth
In absence even more.

I asked God for a flower, He gave me a garden.
I asked God for a tree, He gave me a forest.
I asked God for a river, He gave me an ocean.
I asked God for the world, He gave me you.
My heart is lost to you, always and forever.

~Your Loved One lives In Your Heart~

Many tender memories soften your grief,
May fond recollection bring you relief,
And may you find comfort and peace in the thought
Of the joy that knowing your loved one brought...
For time and space can never divide
Or keep your loved one from your side,
When memory paints in colors true
The happy hours that belonged to you.

Sometimes it's hard to understand
To see the reason why,
Sometimes it's hard to find the words
To say that last goodbye.
Sometimes it's hard to look ahead
With eyes still filled with tears,
But all our cherished memories
Will live on through the years.
And though there are no answers
The questions still remain,
Sometimes we just can't comprehend
Or understand the pain.
Sometimes it's hard to look beyond
The rainclouds in the sky,
Though all our cherished memories
Will stay as time goes by.
Sometimes when we close our eyes
The only thing we see,
Are moments that are long gone by
Of how things used to be.
Sometimes we need to just let go,
Let tears fall as they may,
Reliving cherished memories
That never fade away.

YOUR SPECIAL ANGEL

.☆ * ☆ * ☆ * ☆ *☆ * ☆ * .☆ * ☆ * ☆ * ☆ *☆ * ☆

When you hear an Angel softly whisper to you,
In the light of the day, or the darkness of the night.
When you feel the presence of an Angel caress you,
And see their beautiful wings spread in graceful flight.

When something inside you just makes you smile,
Or you feel a warmth suddenly wash over your heart.
When your dreams are beautiful and include an Angel,
As you lay with your head on your pillow, in the dark.

When you're alone, and everything is quiet around you,
Yet you can hear the sweetest lullaby being sung.
When waking up in the morning, any troubles feel lighter,
From speaking with an Angel, before a new day has begun.

Then you know I am the Angel who you can feel and hear;
Your special Angel from Heaven who will always be so near.
I'm no longer able to be here in body, but I'm with you everyday,
As my loving heart, my soul, and my spirit, will never be far away.
